Brewer’s yeast is the dried, crushed cells of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a type of fungus, which is a by product of the beer brewing industry.
What it does
It is a rich source of B-complex vitamins, protein (providing all essential amino acids), and minerals, including a biologically active form of chromium known as glucose tolerance factor (GTF). It has a traditional use as tonic and energy booster and may help regulate blood sugar levels. It is sometime used to treat people with bacterial diarrhoea and may help improve the action of anti-biotics used to treat this condition.

Generally, there are no side effects or contra-indications from using brewers yeast.
At the time of writing there were no well known negative drug interactions with brewers yeast.
As brewers yeast contains high levels of chromium, if you are diabetic you should consult your doctor before using this product.
