Celery is a vegetable commonly used in salads and casseroles. Celery seeds have been used in Europe for centuries to help a variety of disorders.
What it does
Celery seeds contain volatile oils, apio, coumarins, flavanoids, and the minerals iron, phosphorus, potassium and sodium. Celery seeds have mildy diuretic and anti-spasmodic properties. Celery is also thought to alkalise the blood and help with the elimination of uric acid and other toxic waste through the kidneys. It is said to anti-rheumatic, a digestive tonic, urine antiseptic and hypotensive (lowers blood pressure).

Celery seeds can be sprinkled over vegetables, into soups or crushed and added to a cup of boiling water.
Do not use celery seeds during pregnancy.
At the time of writing there were no well known negative drug interactions with celery seeds.
Generally, there are no side effects or contra-indications from using celery seeds.
