Sleep Apnoea is the name given to the condition where a person stops breathing whilst asleep. They are often heavy snorers and will start to breathe again with a loud snort which may partially wake them. Apnoea can occur several times in a night affecting sleep and leading to drowsiness during the day. Losing weight and using decongestants can help, but sometimes a face mask to keep the airways open is needed.
Reducing consumption of mucous forming foods such as milk, cheese and bananas can sometime help.
Sleeping on your side may also help.
